Yours truly is now an official Pi Kappa Alpha brother. This quarter will be immensely relieving: pledge quarter is done, no more fucking chemistry 14a, became great friends with my pledge brothers, more time to focus on playing rugby, and having EPIC weekends, EVERY weekend. Also, my class schedule allows me to wake up at 10:00 am everyday.
I lack to write in here frequently, but recently I had a great conversations with some friends about famous or ideal quotes people should model after or live by. After an extensive time on my laptop, opening countless windows, trying to find the perfect one I have come up with a few that are probably already on my facebook.
1) "I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." - James Dean
2) "Since today your life doesn't feel like bliss, it shouldn't be a reason for a mirror to meet your fist" - Myself (with a help from Thrice's "Stare at the Sun")
I have a strong belief in optimism. I believe that it can change the impossible because your mind and imagination is limitless and only negativeness can stop yourself from doing the things you want to do. Yes, there are somethings that are just ridiculously impossible, but optimism is one thing you can use to your advantage to get out of a bad, worried, and sad mood. You won't find optimism in your average chemistry or math book, because it is not what it is about. It is about being positive and clearing the pessimism in your head to allow you to become relieved or happy. That is why I like James Dean's quote. It shows that I cannot change the world for my own convenience to reach my goals, but there are still other ways around life to get where you want to be. You may not know what they are yet, but by staying positive you can be happy with where you are at life.
Second, I came up with this quote one morning before class, while listening to Thrice's Artist in the ambulance. It is pretty self-explanatory. Just because things are not going your way, you should not vent your anger, especially by hurting the things around you doors, mirrors, and even close friends. From the countless fist holes in my bedroom door back home, I learned the hard way. Bloody knuckles is not a thing to be proud of.
All day everyday, Eddayday
and yeah, you can quote me on that
